Qualified in 1976 at Hextall, Erskine & Co. Immediately became head of the probate and trusts division of that firm. Retains a significant number of Hextalls private client base, including those of the Hextalls Horsham office. Has lived in Horsham since 1982.
With Christine Green, arrived in August 2002 to form a private client department at what had just become Vizards Oldham Brooke Blain. Further development of the private client practice with the merger with Tweedie & Prideaux in July 2004.
Work is provision of tax efficient Wills and tax efficient lifetime IHT planning; work quite often with IFAs, brokers and accountants to provide a holistic service to the client. Administration of wills and trusts, including contentious probate and Inheritance Act claims.
Particular expertise over the last six years in dealing with the parents of children with disabilities to ensure that the parents make provision for their children post death without prejudicing local authority and DSS benefits. Deals with Office of Public Guardian/Court of Protection on Powers of Attorney and Deputyship issues.
Speaks publicly at seminars etc to clients/prospective clients about areas of expertise.
